Mysore- 'The Antonym of Eyesore' & Beyond

A long journey by train seems boring but when it comes to a journey with the whole family along with another family it automatically becomes exciting. With this thought I began my journey on 17th May 2011. We reached Kanpur Central by taxi then and Shramshakti Express was the train which took us to New Delhi, where we arrived bang on time at 6am. Then, we took some rest in a hotel and again reached the Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 11:00PM in the night for Duronto Express to reach Yashvantpur. The other Family which was with us was upgraded to HA1 bogie and we were not too happy about that because the prospect of enjoying time together was now ruled out.

On that night I just put on the blanket and slept off. The next morning I woke up at two in the afternoon with the intention of passing time as fast as possible. In these two days we felt like the train is our home as everything was starting to become familiar. I had enjoyed watching various states it was a great but a long experience for me. We reached Yashvantpur on the 20th of May. After that I felt relaxed because from Yashvantpur, Mysore is just 3 hours away, and we boarded the Mysore express to cover that distance. We reached Mysore then we took some rest in the hotel. After that came the much awaited moment, as we went to my sister’s hostel.

We took an auto rickshaw to reach Mysore Bus station with an intention of visiting the famous Vrindavan Gardens. At about 7o’clock we reached there and spent an hour. We returned to the hotel at around 10 pm to find the restaurant inside the hotel, closed. We went to another restaurant and had our dinner. Next morning, after breakfast we took a bus to reach Ooty. I spotted a giraffe and a few elephants from the bus and was really delighted after that. We reached Ooty at five in the evening. We took a Lodge and then went out for some entertainment and shopping.

Next morning we went out for the flower show in Botanical Garden. Then we took an auto rickshaw and went to a restaurant called Guajarati Patel for lunch. Then, from there we went to the famous Ooty Lake and then we again took a bus back to Mysore. The next morning we went to visit the Mysore Palace- the Palace of the great emperor, Tipu Sultan.

We were soon back in Bangalore where heavy rain had shown its face and we were forced to stay indoors. My brother booked a car so that we can reach to the station safely. We then took the Rajdhani Express to Jhansi. But the family which was with us missed their train, which was a contrary to their up-gradation in the first leg of our trip. Anyway, we reached to Jhansi station at 1:00AM on 26th of May and caught the Pushpak Express to reach Kanpur at around 2:15AM. At 6 in the morning we reached Kanpur, and snuck into our house, not wanting to wake up our peacefully sleeping neighbors.
This is my great and a long experience which I have shared with all of you. I hope you enjoyed it.
