One Year Experience Of Graduation

I am writing after a long period of time because there was no topic on which I could write. So after completing my one year of graduation I just thought to share my experience with you all. So, the story of my first year of graduation begins from the very first day I came and saw Banasthali Vidyapeeth, one of the world’s best known residential Institutes for women. After exploring the campus, all that came to my mind was -“how can I study here?” I mean I was a girl with full freedom in IIT Kanpur but here it was like a jail.

I mean the rules and regulations were too many I just hated it all. For instance, no one is supposed to be roaming outside after 8 pm, no lunch after 2 pm and no dinner after 9 pm. I was just thinking that how can a girl who eats 4-6 times a day and eats a lot of non-veg can live in a place where no non-veg was provided. We only supposed to have vegetarian food. Anyway, as a matter of fact for me these factors didn’t matter. What mattered to me were studies. So I kept these things as secondary and made my studies a priority so that I can also become independent like my elder brother and sister.

I had a lot of problems in adjusting myself with the situations and people. As the time passed, I Iearned that Ihad to adjust with a lot of things here. In beginning I had mood swings because of which there were more ups and downs in the first semester. My parents had to suffer a lot because of that. As the time passed, I learned that I had to adjust myself with the situations and people on my own. One of my very close friend suggested me not to fight with the roommates when I fought with them and he also suggested to surrender even if there is a situation where I am not wrong. Keeping in mind the thing that he said, I spent my whole year.

In the first semester I had a lot of friends with whom I enjoyed and studied as well. I scored 66% in first semester in BA with almost all theory subjects (Psychology, English Literature and Public Administration). When I told my result to my brother and other relatives they were so happy. I can’t even express my happiness by seeing their happiness, especially my brother’s and father’s happiness. That was the day when I decided not to give up and made a promise to myself that whatever happens, I will just stay here, making studies as my first priority and keep on improving semester by semester. But in the meantime, I sustained an injury in my leg.It was a serious sprain that took a long time to recover which affected my studies and I had to miss my classes in second semester. In the second semester I suffered from many problems likehigh blood pressure, depression and many other problems. I have seen breaking of many friendship bonds, even with the girl I was most attached with is also not my so close friend now but now I don’t care about these things as I have my first priority as studies and the happiness of my family and relatives who are with me since many decades and will be with me till the end of the world. Other people may leave me alone for any reason but my relatives and family members will always be on my side.
So, as the time ran its course, one year got over and we got so much attached with eachother that the chai waala bhaiyaji, bhaiyaji mini meal de do, khana pack karna tha, bhaiyaji…., mango shake, moti aunty, all the sand and all the mandirs in the vidyapeeth have now became parts of our life and we can’t live without these things. New market se uncle chips le aana, juice fruits le aana…. Aajtu treat de…vanimandir se hostel, hostel se library but only during exam time. Only one year has passed and while leaving eachother we were crying as if we were going away forever. But in these 2 months,I will miss each and everything and everyone in Banasthali because it is the place which has made me mature to some extent and now I can adjust with situations and people. Although I don’t care much about people, I will still miss them. Thank You Banasthali for teaching me about the value of adjustments and compromise with others.

Trip to NCR

A train journey is a really hectic and stressful until you reach your destination. My journey from Kanpur to New was no different, as we could not get a wink of sleep. We left from IIT Kanpur for Kanpur Central station (CNB) to board our train, the Shram-Shakti Express which departed at 11:40 PM towards New Delhi. I was already exhausted and hence took my berth in order to get some sleep till the train reached Ghaziabad. But who could ever think of getting any proper sleep with the passengers around you making such unwanted noises in their sleep. The train was to reach New Delhi at 6:30am but it was delayed due to fog in some areas. The train was two hours late and we reached at 8:30 am. We had to wait for my uncle whose train was supposed to reach at 4:30 am, but got delayed to 11:30 am due to the same circumstances. That led us to spend 3 hours in the waiting room. I was getting bored so went to the book stall and bought a magazine named CSR (Competition Success Review) and was reading it till my uncle reached the station. After that, at around 1:30 pm we reached the hotel in which we had to stay.We had our lunch then went for shopping to the famous GIP (Great India Place), one of the most extensive malls in Asia. After coming from there we rested for a while and then got dressed for the wedding of my brother’s friend’s sister, Srishti di.

We had lots of fun there we met celebrities like Lal Krishna Advani and Shatrughna Sinha.

After having so much fun we got tired, we came back to the hotel at about 1:00 am and dropped dead on the bed. The next day we went to my uncle’s place at Greater Noida. We left for Greater Noida at 9:15 am and reached there at 10:45 am. Then we had some breakfast and went to some places in Greater Noida. At 2:00 pm we had lunch and then slept due to tiredness. In the evening I had a great time with my uncle and my cousins. Then the most hectic day came when we had to leave from Greater Noida to Kanpur. We left at 12:45 pm for Delhi by the one and only Delhi metro towards RajivChowk. After finishing off some work I searched for a book & finally found it after a lot of effort. It was a book on Relativity by Albert Einstein. When we reached station we were informed that our train Sialdah Rajdhani was 2 hours and 20 min. late. So we went to Palika Bazar near the station for shopping and then when we reached the station, our train was there waiting for us. It left for Kanpur at 6:40 pm. It was like the train was crawling and took almost 7 hours to reach Kanpur instead of its scheduled 5 hours. So, we reached at 1:40 am at station and 2:30 am at IIT Kanpur. It was a hectic but fun-filled journey. It was a nice experience and so I was excited to share it.
Thanks for the encouraging me by reading my blog & thanks for the patience as well! I know it has been a long time since I've posted something!

With Love
Shivani Singh.

Fight against Terrorism

It was another dark night in Mumbai on 13th July 2011, Wednesday, when thousands of people got injured and many people were reported dead by terrorist attacks. It is a shame that we are seeing many people dying but are not doing anything. Once again there was a dangerous attack and once again we Indians had to bow infront of fear. Once again there shall be concerned voices raised by those in authority. Once again Mumbai will show its resilience and get back to work as rapidly as possible. Once again TV channels shall give exclusive reports from the site of the action, claiming how they were the first to bring this tragedy to your doorstep. At the end of the day, even when you are fighting an adversary, the desire, by certain forces to capitalize on the situation does not change. But for all the Indians there is a big question that for how long will we live in fear of such attacks? Once again the city shall limp back to normalcy and in a few months the incident will be forgotten and fresh topics will take place of this. I can’t understand why do we forget such dangerous things? We should remember about all this and take necessary actions. Why are they not killing Kasab? Killing Kasab is a small punishment for Pakistan, in fact he should be given to the public and the decision made by the public for him is will be appropriate and well served for a terrorist like Kasab.

We have to be with each other and fight against the terrorist attacks that are taking place in our nation. It’s our nation how can we let anyone destroy it? Today I, Shivani Singh, a 15-year-old girl, am taking pledge to fight against terrorism and appeal for your support. If I can do it, then you too can. It is my humble request to all the readers of this blog to kindly support me and fight against terrorism. I may be from Uttar Pradesh, but when there is any blast in any state of my country; my heart fills with great fear because I’m a true Indian. So, from now onwards I’m fighting against terrorism in my way and if you are with me please leave a comment.
I pay my tributes to the killed people and extend my sympathy for their family members.
Stay at home and be safe
Love

Mysore- 'The Antonym of Eyesore' & Beyond

A long journey by train seems boring but when it comes to a journey with the whole family along with another family it automatically becomes exciting. With this thought I began my journey on 17th May 2011. We reached Kanpur Central by taxi then and Shramshakti Express was the train which took us to New Delhi, where we arrived bang on time at 6am. Then, we took some rest in a hotel and again reached the Hazrat Nizamuddin station at 11:00PM in the night for Duronto Express to reach Yashvantpur. The other Family which was with us was upgraded to HA1 bogie and we were not too happy about that because the prospect of enjoying time together was now ruled out.

On that night I just put on the blanket and slept off. The next morning I woke up at two in the afternoon with the intention of passing time as fast as possible. In these two days we felt like the train is our home as everything was starting to become familiar. I had enjoyed watching various states it was a great but a long experience for me. We reached Yashvantpur on the 20th of May. After that I felt relaxed because from Yashvantpur, Mysore is just 3 hours away, and we boarded the Mysore express to cover that distance. We reached Mysore then we took some rest in the hotel. After that came the much awaited moment, as we went to my sister’s hostel.

We took an auto rickshaw to reach Mysore Bus station with an intention of visiting the famous Vrindavan Gardens. At about 7o’clock we reached there and spent an hour. We returned to the hotel at around 10 pm to find the restaurant inside the hotel, closed. We went to another restaurant and had our dinner. Next morning, after breakfast we took a bus to reach Ooty. I spotted a giraffe and a few elephants from the bus and was really delighted after that. We reached Ooty at five in the evening. We took a Lodge and then went out for some entertainment and shopping.

Next morning we went out for the flower show in Botanical Garden. Then we took an auto rickshaw and went to a restaurant called Guajarati Patel for lunch. Then, from there we went to the famous Ooty Lake and then we again took a bus back to Mysore. The next morning we went to visit the Mysore Palace- the Palace of the great emperor, Tipu Sultan.

We were soon back in Bangalore where heavy rain had shown its face and we were forced to stay indoors. My brother booked a car so that we can reach to the station safely. We then took the Rajdhani Express to Jhansi. But the family which was with us missed their train, which was a contrary to their up-gradation in the first leg of our trip. Anyway, we reached to Jhansi station at 1:00AM on 26th of May and caught the Pushpak Express to reach Kanpur at around 2:15AM. At 6 in the morning we reached Kanpur, and snuck into our house, not wanting to wake up our peacefully sleeping neighbors.
This is my great and a long experience which I have shared with all of you. I hope you enjoyed it.
Thanks for reading !

Our Super Cool School Picnic

Picnic! Isn’t it like that amazing word which fills our heart with lots of joy, fun and excitement? I felt something like this when I heard that our whole class IXth would be going on a picnic on the 10th of February, 2011. I heard this great news from my friend on the 8th of February. After that I was waiting eagerly for those two days to pass. When the 10th finally came, I was filled with lots of excitement in my soul. I went to school and attended the morning assembly and then we boarded the bus, specially reserved for IXth-E, i.e. my class. When the bus didn’t move we started shouting Hindi slogans like “bus ko aage to badhao”. After 15-20 minutes, it started to move and the whole gang burst into songs.

We shouted and sang very loudly. My friend started to tease the boys. Then, finally we reached the J.K.Temple, which was a beautiful Temple. We took some pictures and roamed all around the garden from 10:30A.M to 11:33A.M. At around 11:15 A.M the Temple doors opened with an amazing sound of the ‘dhol’ and the ‘naggada’ played by the pandits. This sound signifies that all the devotees are welcome inside for the ‘arti’ of lord Radha-Krishna.

Inside the temple we saw some doors were made by silver while some were simple. We also saw the best pictures of Radha Krishna made by a special type of marble. These pictures were very beautiful. We enjoyed the arti and then joined the class lines. Girls on the right and boys on left. Our class teacher counted us and we were back inside the bus.

We couldn’t even figure out how these precious two hours went by. We were also really hungry so we munched the food that we brought from home. After that we started singing and enjoying a lot with our friends, yet again. Then after 30 odd minutes we reached to the Japanese Garden. It was fascinating too.
Our teachers went to the ticket house and bought tickets for all the children so that we could enjoy fully. As we entered the Garden we saw the strangest scenes ever. We were irritated by seeing them after travelling all the way to see the beauty of the nature and to relax while enjoying some victuals. We just planned to hoot wherever we saw those scenes. Everything went according to the plan and we were hooting all around, thereafter.
In a very silent place we sat and took our lunch, we were also singing but we don’t know how a boy, who doesn’t like that song just passed across us and misinterpreted that we were teasing him. But we were actually singing just for fun. That was a bit of a mood spoiler, but we lifted our spirits, as such incidents are a part and parcel of such fun-filled journeys.

We then sat beside a couple and sang “mummy ko nahi hai pata……” but it was probably a wrong couple as they replied to us that “sorry bachchon we are married couple”. Suddenly, a silence was there and we just confirmed whether the couple was married or not by singing the song “jisne pehle shadi ki…zor ka jhatka…” After the whole masti we went to see the lake from the bridge. And then our class teacher counted us and we were back in the bus and songs, hooting and whistling resumed in full scale. Then we reached our school and took some pictures as a souvenir and we were really tired. When I reached my home, I went to bed and got a sleep of 4 hours without any disturbance. That was really a fun-filled and a good experience for me.
If I have any other such interesting experiences I will certainly share it with you. Thanks for reading my blog. A humble request to my brother Abhimanyu Singh “plz ghar aake daantna mat...”
Bye! See you next time…

AWAAZ DO

“Every time I see kids going to school, it brings back such amazing memories of my own time,” Priyanka tells her fans. “Education can change lives. That’s why I’m raising my voice for the 8 million children who are out of school… We’ve tried silence. It’s now time to speak up for every child’s right to be educated.”

It’s now your opportunity to make a difference.
The more the people read about ‘Awaaz Do’, talk about it, the better chance of a child receiving his/her education.
The facts about the Right to Education Act, its significance and a lot more is given as part of the zip file. Refer to these facts and share the information with your readers. Provide them with information which they can use and further spread the message.
So first,
What Is AWAAZ DO & How Can I A Make A Difference?
All children 6 to 14 years old have the right to free and quality education under the recently passed Right to Education Act.

The RTE Act specifies minimum norms in government schools. It requires all private schools to reserve 25% of seats for children from poor families (to be reimbursed by the state as part of the public-private partnership plan).

The Act also provides that no child shall be held back, expelled, or required to pass a board examination until the completion of elementary education. There is also a provision for special training of school drop-outs to bring them up to par with students of the same age.

The RTE Act is the first legislation in the world that puts the responsibility of ensuring enrollment, attendance and completion on the Government.

The Right to Education of persons with disabilities until 18 years of age has also been made a fundamental right. A number of other provisions regarding improvement of school infrastructure, teacher-student ratio and faculty are made in the Act.
To make the Right to Education Act successful, it is important that each one of us knows about it so that every child who is not in school can be sent back for free and quality education.

Why is the RTE Act 2009 significant and what does it mean for India?
A. The passing of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act 2009 marks a historic moment for the children of India.
This Act serves as a building block to ensure that every child has his or her right (as an entitlement) to get a quality elementary education, and that the State, with the help of families and communities, fulfills this obligation.
Few countries in the world have such a national provision to ensure both free and child-centered, child-friendly education.
The time is NOW! Make A Difference.
Stand up and make some noise! Join the Awaaz Do movement by signing up now for India's children. Ask your friends to be a part of getting every single girl and boy into school. Do it now for India's future.

Come forward and donate to UNICEF to help change 8 million lives.

Spread the word to your family and friends. You can SMS, e-mail or just talk to them and ask them to speak up and raise their voice for children. One voice makes a difference but together we can help change the fate of 8 million children. The time to begin is NOW!

Find a school near you and make a visit. Check if the school has:

• Separate toilets for boys and girls.
• Drinking water and places for students to wash their hands with soap.
• Playgrounds for playing sports and having fun.
• A school library for students and their teachers.
• Mid-day meals for children.

You can meet the school head, teachers, community members and even the parents of children enrolled there and talk to them about the RTE Act. Let them know about the highlights and let them know how every child can benefit.

Awaaz Do!

My Nana, My Hero...!

Hello everyone! Today, I Shivani Singh (Your Writer) am about to introduce my family. My Hometown is Tirwa, Kannauj. I have an elder brother, elder sister, mummy and papa and the youngest one amongst them is me. I’m very naughty as I’ve told you earlier. I have my nana, nani, my mausis and my mausas as well. The Oldest, strongest, smartest & most hard working amongst them is my nana, my hero. He was a teacher in the collage nearby my hometown. But in the past few days he has been retired. He is always with us in every moment in our life. He used to give us his moral teachings so that we will be more successful like him.
Today, whatever I am is just because of him. In every moment of my life he is with me teaching me how to be more successful. He used to tell me that you can do better. His teachings are always with me. He encourages every one. He is very honest and used to do everything with hard work and honesty.
He teaches me English and whenever I feel as if I can’t do it, he is with me, inspiring me by saying-“Yes! you can do this.” He solves all my difficulties in Mathematics in the snap of a finger.
He is always helpful to me, my brother, sister and to my mom too. He is not short of good qualities and hence I keep trying to inculcate them in me. He is very caring person. I’m very close to him. I share almost every secret with him. Whenever he sees us succeed, he becomes so proud that he shares our success stories with our cousins.
One day he saw my picture in the newspaper and was so glad that he kept that newspaper cutting with him showing and proudly telling everyone that she is my daughter’s little daughter. By seeing his happiness I was so glad that I had taken a pledge to keep him happy, always.
THANK YOU NANA!! FOR GIVING ME SUCH A GREAT LIFE!!!
Thanks To all my reader for reading it. I hope that now you have known my nana now. Bye! See You Next Time i.e. whenever I’ll write on another topic in this blog. Till then Bye!!!
